New England Clambake
Traditionally, the New England Clambake was prepared by Native Americans. They would prepare this deliciuos feast on the beaces of New England.
For starters, they would dig a pit in the sand, preparing an area to actually bake the clambake.
Once this was complete they would make a fire and heat up some stones. The heat from the stones is actually what helps cook the seafood: live lobsters, mussels, shellfish, clams, shrimp and vegetables.
Once the pit was lined with hot rocks they would apply a layer of seawead and from this point would stack all the seafood items and vegetables into the pit. It would then be covered and after some time the New England Clambake would be complete!
Enjoying a clambake is a modern day tribute to the American Indians.
