Cons Of Sport Utility Trailers

While toy haulers, also known as sport utility trailers, have a lot of upside, that doesn’t mean they’re the perfect camper.

Here are some of the cons to owning a toy hauler.

The first is that you get lower gas mileage by towing a toy hauler than if you were towing a regular fifth wheel or travel trailer.  This is due simply to the extra weight that extra toys in the cargo hold add.

You also won’t get quite as large of a selection to choose from (at least not yet) that you would if you were shopping for a traditional travel trailer or fifth wheel.

Also, the close proximity to these vehicles can make you feel a bit like you’re living in a garage complete with the smells of oil, gasoline and rubber.  If you’re concerned about this, then leave them outside at night or purchase a sport utility trailer with a sealed off garage area.
