Types of private plates part 2
Previously we dealt with ageless and suffix type registration numbers which covered from 1903 to 1983. In 1983 the prefix number plates system was adopted which comprised one letter the 1,2, or 3 numbers then three letters.The first letter gave the year of the car which would be between 1983 and 2001. In 2001 the current system which is still in use was started. Now we have two letters,two numbers and three more letters. All registrations have 7 digits and the first two give the area of first registration while the nex two numbers give the age of the car.
