Is the Scooter Market Competitively Priced?

I’ve been in the market for a motor scooter recently, and I’ve explored my options, including visiting several local scooter dealerships.

Prices for these little two-wheeled monsters seem to vary dramatically depending on the size and model, which is to be expected considering the wide range of size available. The disparity between large and small scooters is greater than the disparity between a Chevy Suburban and a Mini Cooper.

Also similar to buying a car, prices of motor scooters seem to fall of rapidly after leaving the lot. What makes this interesting is that most scooters don’t get nearly the mileage of a car, especially the smaller 125 or 150 models.

All of that means that it is fairly easy to find cheap scooters online through a third-party dealer or broker. Knowing this, I have to wonder if scooters from the dealership are competitively priced or if that’s why these online sites are becoming increasingly popular.
