Womenswear Dominates Fashion
Womenswear it by far the largest part of the fashion merchandising industry. It takes close to 57 per cent of the market share, and up to seventy-five per cent of designer houses focus on this sector. There is an enormous competition if the womenswear market, and the turnover of fashion design jobs and marketing positions is higher than in other sectors. Fashions change at a much faster pace in womenswear than in other sectors of menswear and childrenswear. The quicker fashion cycle therefore puts more pressure on a quick response from fashion designers to come up with new designs and also increases the pressure on the manufacturers.
